Pearl

Pearl
Overall impression: To be a light silvery grey colour with dark ticking that gives the characteristic pearl effect.
Under colour: To be silver.
Band colour: Do not exist, since this is not an agouti variety.
Ticking: Dark grey.
Belly colour: Not to be lighter than top colour.
Feet: To have the same hue as the top colour.
Eye colour: Black.
Genetics: (aammPepe).
Known since: 1978, in NFRS standards 1981.

Since Silver Mink and Pearl are genetically the same, you can also get inbetween colours, like Dark Pearl.

Dark Pearl
Same genotype as Pearl.
The name of this rat is called Joe Hill.

Silver Mink
Same genotype as Pearl.
The name of this rat is called Courier New.

Today at least one breeder in Sweden is trying to create Blue Pearl - aaggmmPepe. (Eye colour: black.) I think the g gene is best for this purpose, since it is suspected that many gg blues are actually aammgg. No photo yet.
