Still there are only different color varieties of Siamese and Himalaya in the shaded group. But we are waiting for the Sable Siamese to show up one day on the rat... That will happen when the chinchilla gene of the rat has been found. The shaded varieties are not supposed to be marked. You can breed siamese rats in many different colours, like black siamese, chocolate siamese, mink siamese, english blue siamese, german blue siamese, russian blue siamese and so on. The colour you put on a siamese can not be red/yellow and should be dark.

  1. Black Point Siames
    Overall impression: Body colour to be beige that gradually transitions into brownish black colour at the back and hind quarters down towards the belly and in the face towards the nose. The shading shall be even and darkest at the nose and the base of the tail. The rat has to be completely without streaks, odd coloured or white hairs or patches.
    Belly colour: To be light beige.
    Ears: As black as possible.
    Tail: As black as possible.
    Feet: As black as possible.
    Eye colour: Deep ruby, as black as possible.
    American name: Seal point siamese.
    Other name: "Common" siamese, Seal Point Siamese.
    Genetics: (aachch).
    Known since: 1979, in NFRS standards 1981.

  2. German Blue Point Siamese (No photos yet.)
    Overall impression: Body colour to be silver beige that gradually transitions into deep blue colour at the back and hind quarters down towards the belly and in the face towards the nose. The shading shall be even and darkest at the nose and the base of the tail. The rat has to be completely without streaks, odd coloured or white hairs or patches.
    Belly colour: To be light silver beige.
    Ears: As clearly blue as possible.
    Tail: As clearly blue as possible.
    Feet: As clearly blue as possible.
    Eye colour: Deep ruby, as black as possible.
    Genetics: (aachchdd).
    Known since: 1996, maybe earlier.

  3. English Blue Point Siamese (No photos yet.)
    Overall impression: Body colour to be light silver beige that gradually transitions into extreme light bluish colour at the back and hind quarters down towards the belly and in the face towards the nose. The shading shall be even and darkest at the nose and the base of the tail. The rat has to be completely without streaks, odd coloured or white hairs or patches.
    Belly colour: To be light silver beige.
    Ears: To comform with body colour.
    Tail: To comform with body colour.
    Feet: To comform with body colour.
    Eye colour: Deep ruby, as black as possible.
    Genetics: (aachchgg).
    Known since: 1995.

  4. Russian Blue Point Siamese (No photos yet.)
    Overall impression: Body colour to be silver beige that gradually transitions into deep blue colour at the back and hind quarters down towards the belly and in the face towards the nose. The shading shall be even and darkest at the nose and the base of the tail. The rat has to be completely without streaks, odd coloured or white hairs or patches.
    Belly colour: To be light silver beige.
    Ears: As clearly blue as possible.
    Tail: As clearly blue as possible.
    Feet: As clearly blue as possible.
    Eye colour: Deep ruby, as black as possible.
    Genetics: (aachch rbrb).
    Known since: New in the US, not in Sweden (yet).

  5. Chocolate Point Siamese (No photos yet.)
    Overall impression: Body colour to be beige that gradually transitions into a warm chocolate colour at the back and hind quarters down towards the belly and in the face towards the nose. The shading shall be even and darkest at the nose and the base of the tail. The rat has to be completely without streaks, odd coloured or white hairs or patches.
    Belly colour: To be light beige.
    Ears: As warm chocolate as possible.
    Tail: As warm chocolate as possible.
    Feet: As warm chocolate as possible.
    Eye colour: Deep ruby, as black as possible.
    Genetics: (aabbchch).
    Known since: 1978.

  6. Black Point Himalayan (No photos.)
    Overall impression: Body colour to be white, even and clean without tinges. Points to be dark blackish brown. Unlike the shading of the Siames rat the Himalaya shall have the following shading:
    Face: Black nose up towards but not over the eyes.
    Ears: Black, but only down to the base of the ear.
    Tail: Black, but only to the base of the tail, not up on the back.
    Feet: Black, the colour shall not reach over the wrist at the front paws and not over the ankle at the hind paws.
    Belly colour: To be white.
    Other name: Seal Point Himalayan.
    Eye colour: Red.
    Genetics: (aachc).
    Known since: 1972, in standards 1981.

NOTE: We have already seen out first Mink Point Siamese in Sweden a few years ago, but they were not attractive, so no-one wants to breed them.
