I got Soppan & Hottan after one of my last rats died and I had only one lonely rat left, Humlan. I was supposed to have one new rat, but Grodan brought three so I could chose one, or rather Humlan could chose one :-) They all arrived together in a cage carried by Grodan on the 19th of December 2005. There was Hottan, Soppan and a champagne rex daughter to Snuttan (the one of my rats that had just died). If I'm not totally wrong that same Champagne daughter is the same rat as Hottan's new rat Theo :)

Of course I couldn't help myself from taking two rats instead of one...

They are of couse pedigree rats! Soppan's pedigree name is Arinella's Eldsopp, and Hottan's pedigree name is Arinella's Hot & Spicey. Hottan was born onthe 23rd of June 2004, and she is a Silver Fawn Rex female.

Since Humlan is a bit bossy I didn't put the new rats in her cage, instead I put all three in another cage. I wondered what would happen when I did put them in Humlan's old cage. When they's had lived with me for a week I just put them back in Humlan's old cage, and nothing happened. It is common that rats do have some sort of squabble in such a situation, but these didn't.

Hottan is a halfsister my old pet rats Basset & Basenji, and she seems to like it well here. Soppan is a really shy rat, but also very nice and gentle. Soppan turned in to a good pet rat.

Hottan in the cage. Hottan is a very good pet rat, she loves to come up and cuddle for a while when she is out and about and then walk away to investigate all the stuff she finds outside her cage.

Hottan's friend and cagemate Soppan had to be put to sleep since she developed torticollis, so now Hottan is alone and I am searching for a new cagemate for her. I've even put up ads, but had no success so far. She needs a fairly old rat as company since she is rather old and have slowed down considerably lately. Hottan is still healthy, she hads no health problems so far. I could take a male since she is too old to get pregnant, but I have not found that either.
