Byzance was my first pearl rat. She was a pearl variegated, and I remember how angry people in the Swedish rat club was with her breeder for making such a stupid mating, it just wasn't allowed to mate a pearl to anything else than a pearl or a cinnamon pearl. Byzance's breeder was upset and unhappy over all the bad mounthings she got over that litter. Byzance herself was a happy active rat, and a very good friend to her cage mate Silver.

Byzance was born on the 4th of May 1989, and she was a true pet rat. She was just a little dominant, not much, but so are all Wistar rats too, and she and Silver got along wonderfully. You couldn't even see which was the leader. The photo was taken in June 1989, when Byzance was just a little baby.

Byzance's father was a cinnamon pearl, and her mother was a mink capped. This photo of Byzance is from 1990.

I even mated Byzance to Fnutten, and they got a litter with only agouties, with lots of white on their bellies, maybe some were amnerican berkshires, and at least one was half berkshire, half variegated. One of the babies went to Byzance's breeder, and I kept one female, Appolonia, but I never did mate Appolonia. I sold the rest.
