Here is a photo of Basenji, sitting on top of the rat cage. Basenji's whole name is Arinella's Basenji.

Basenji is my silver fawn european berkshire rat. She is a nice pet rat, that loves to cuddle and she is just a perfect pet rat. Basenji is bred by a a wellknown Swedish rat breeder, partly from my old lines that I started with Ikaros.

A close-up of Basenji, as she is climbing out of her cage.

Basenji was born on the 29th of February 2004, along with her sister Basset, and ten other pretty little silver fawns.

They might look like a bit pale silver fawns on these photos, but they were just two months old when these photos were taken, and silver fawn is a colour that really deepens with age.

Here is a photo of Basenji's sister Basset. Basset was a silver fawn hooded, well that is a bit hard to see in this photo, but I have owned hooded rats for a long time and and know what a hooded looks like. Actually, her breeder registered Basset as a silver fawn bareback mismarked... He, was it that long since that breeder had a hooded rat?

Basset & Basenji's mother is a Wistar rat, called Sockerwadd, sister to Basenji's cage mate Albina. Oh, I just love Wistar rats :-) Their father is a silver fawn male called Superduper Killen. His mother Nivea's father is Aristoteles Iurre.

Basset & Basenji were great pet rats, even though Grodan said that their litter was not her best.

Basset sadly developed acute torticollis and had to be put to sleep on the 5th of August 2004.
Basenji suddenly got sick on the 11th of June 2005. She was started on antibitics (Baytril) right away, but she just got worse by the day. On the 15th she was mostly unconsious and had some seizures so I had her put to sleep.
