Albina, also called Bina, is my pretty Wistar laboratory rat. Albina was born on the 27th of August 2003, and she is a really pretty albino rat.
Wistar is a strain of laboratory rats that I really love. One reason I like Wistar so much is that they are all albinos and my second favourite colour in rats is albino. My absolute favourite colour is silver fawn. Also I love them so much because I know them so well. They don't have any sign of the temper problems that is so common in the pet rat population, instead they may be re-tamed if they ever show any kind of unwanted behaviour.
Albina has a lovely cage mate called Basenji, who is a silver fawn. Albina and Basenji are relatives, since Basenji is the daughter of Albina's sister.
Albina used to have another cagemate called Sessan, that also was a silver fawn. In this photo you can see Albina as a baby together with Sessan.
Here is Albina on top of the rat cage. Albina, like all Wistar rats, is a special rat. One great thing is her extremely soft fur, another nice thing is her ears that close-up resembles the ears of a mouse...
I do believe Albina is my third Wistar female, after Silver & Busan. I have also had four Wistar males, Snow-White, Ixy, Ixus & Iste.
One fun thing with Wistar males is the way they wiggle when they walk, but I couldn't really get a Wistar male as a new friend to Sessan when Sessan had no friend, it just had to be a female.
