Cryptocoryne

I know it is a Cryptocoryne, but not which. There are lots of different Cryptocorynes of different sizes and colours.

The photo to the left shows the plants when they were new, the photo to the right show the plants when they had grown a bit :-) The leaves got slimmer, darker in colour and much taller.

I've actually never had this species before even though I've actually had a few different species of Cryptocoryne :-) The prettiest Cryptocoryne I know is Cryptocoryne balansae, that has long dark green leaves, do believe that is been renamed, though. The bright red in the background of the picture to the right is my Alternanthera.

I know that most Cryptocorynes gets a disease where their leaves melts down, often soon after you have bought them. If left alone there will be new leaves after a while. But theone in the photo hasn't melted down yet.

Cryptocorynes grow very slow, so they probably don't need that much nourishment, but at least some. They propagate through runners along the bottom of the aquarium, sometimes even under the top layer of sand.

Cryptocoryne amicorum

Cryptocoryne becketti "petchii" - Becket's Crypto

Cryptocoryne moehlmanni

Cryptocoryne nevelli

Cryptocoryne crispatula var. balansae - Seersucker Crypto

I don't have this species yet, but I am planning to buy it since it is one of my favourite plants.
