The female to the left is obviously pregnant. The photo to the right shows two of my males.
Xenotoca eiseni is my favourite fish and I am very happy to find them again :-) (I've actually owned and bred this species before.) This species has several English common names: Redtail Splitfin, Orange-Tailed Goodeid and Red-Tailed Goodeid. In German they are called Banderolenkärpfling, and in Norwegian they are called rødhalet goodeidae.
This fish is also called mexcalpique cola roja, if I am not totally wrong that is a local name from where they live in the wild.
This species belong to the family Goodeidae, subfamily Goodeinae, and it comes from Mexico, where it is an endangered species.
The name eiseni come from an American, Dr. Eisen. This species was first described in the 1900 century, making it a rather old and well known species, but at that time it had another latin name.

This baby fish in the photo is 3 days old.
These babies are quite large, they are 1,5 cm long when born.
