The Tan Group is based on the tan gene
at. A Tan mouse can be either
atat or ata.
When you talk about tan mice you mean mice with
brown or yellow bellies.
The Agouti Tan Group is buildt on the gene
A - uniform agouti together with the gene
at.
- Agouti Tan - Aat.
(this is one of my pet mice I had in 1989.)
- Opal Tan - Aatdd.
- Cinnamon Tan - Aatbb.
- Lynx Tan - Aatbbdd.
- Argente Tan - Aatpp.
- Champagne Argente Tan - Aatbbpp.
- Blue Argente Tan (also called Silver Argente Tan)- Aatddpp.
- Lavender Argente Tan - Aatbbddpp.
Other Tan varieties
(These are not in standards so far, and will probably never be.)
- Siamese Tan -
atatchch.
Neither Siamese nor Himalaya is able to show red
pigment, so a tan Himalaya or Siamese will have a
white belly, and look like fox!
- Himalaya Tan - atatchc.
