The Shaded Varieties is a mixed group that mainly is based on different genes on the c-locus.

Sable

The sables are based on the gene AY - dominant yellow. It is stated in more than one "Fancy Mice" books that you can never have a Red Tan mouse, but there is certainly no sign of any evidence that this is true. In fact a Sable mouse can be a sooty Red Tan - AYat - or a sooty Red - AYA or AYa. In many books and on many web pages they insist that the sable is caused by a gene called U for Umbrous, but there is no proof whatsoever that the U gene even exists in the fancy. You can breed sooty reds from not sooty red just by selection, and the other way around.

Marten Sables

The marten sables are chinchillated sables.

The AY gene is lethal.

Himalayan

The Himalaya Group is buildt directly on the Black Group.

Of course there are as many agouti based himalayas...

Agouti Point Himalaya - AAchc. (Not in standards so far.)

Siamese

The Siamese Group is also buildt directly on the Black Group. They all have aachch.

Don't forget the agouti siamese...

Agouti Point Siamese - AAchch. (Not in standards so far.)

Neither Siamese nor Himalaya is able to show red pigment, so a Red Pointed Siamese will in fact look white - and a Fawn Pointed Himalaya will be what we call a mock albino.

Colourpoint

The Colourpoint Group is also buildt directly on the Black Group. They have aacech and are black eyed. The Colourpoints has been called Black Eyed Siamese.

Burmese

The Burmese Group is also buildt directly on the Black Group. They all have aacchch.

Brindle

Brindle is shown in all dark colours, agouti varieties included.
