The Marked Group consists of several different markings made from different genes. Here I only list the black varieties of each marking. These markings are possible to combine with any of the common colours, but looks best on the darker colours.

Most of these genes - s, W, Rw, and Mobr - are lethal or semilethal.

Tricolour

When I joined the Swedish Mouse Club many years ago black tans with white markings was shown as tricolour mice... The Tricolour Mouse is sort of a myth within the mouse fancy, and people hope for a mouse that resembles a tricoloured cavy...

But I have actually seen tricoloured mice, and held some in my hands. These did not resemble tricolored cavies but they produced tricoloured baby mice... These tricoloured mice were white with black spots and then smaller grey spots on top of that, some on top of the black spots and some on the white. The spots was very distinct. I was not even a member in a mouse club by then and no idea that I had found a cage full of the Holy Graal of the mouse fancy - if I had known I had brought a few of the younger ones home I guess, and kept them.
