In 1998 I bought a pair of gerbils, a male and a female, whose names were Utrix and Ulindi. I bought them from a well known and reputable Swedish breeder, and this I will never regret. These two gerbils lived to be more than three and a half years old. They still lived together all their lifes and produced many pretty baby gerbils. I actually managed to find new homes for all of their babies except a few ones that were sickly. Utrix & Ulindi were also very tame, loved to be petted and enjoyed sitting on my shoulder.
Utrix and Ulindi died in the spring of 2002. Ulindi started to get sick on the 14th of March, when she was almost 3 1/2 years old. I gave her antibiotics. Utrix developed a tumour on his belly that I found on the 18th of March. Ulindi dit not get much better and then she got sick fast and died on the 11th of April. Utrix's tumour was really big by then, so I had him put to sleep on the same day.
