In
a very tiny scale...

There is, of course, nothing
wrong with collecting Ming vases. It takes a lot of space, however,
it is extremely expensive, and, the most important thing - if you
move, you can't throw the collection in a bag and carry it with
you. That is just ONE of the advantages with miniature collections....
These pages are all about my dolls houses,
dolls cabinets, showcases and miniatures. Read about decoration
and renovation, get inspiration on how to make new things out of
old material and on how to make small, small things yourself...
read my tips, look at the pictures, be inspired and DIY!
Working with dolls houses could be the most all-round
hobby/craft in the world, because you use all kind of materials
and many different methods. Wood, metal, cloth, hobby clay, real
clay, plastic, concrete, paper, different yarns, leather, varnish,
oils, and colours - acrylic, water, earth colours, ink and indian
ink; you paint and punch, solder, polish and remove rust etc. etc.
No tool is too small and no magnifying glass too big.
I find it especially enjoyable to make things
from old material (maybe intended for something entirely different)
and, I am, of course, not alone in this =) "Trash to treasures"
is great fun! If you keep your eyes open you can find so many strange,
funny and promising small things to alter into something completely
different.

Miniature of the season
An old table rack for knives can turn
into an excellent hat stand if you stand it on end.... |

Project
of the season
When Marcel Breuer was experimenting with materials for chairs
- light, cheap, hygienic - suitable for modern living, he
wanted to use tubular steel but no one knew how to bend it.
Then he saw a bicycle handle and suddenly he understood who
could bend the steel for him... a bicycle plant.
In the fifties, garden chairs made from tubular steel were
found everywhere in Sweden. Of course, ours were black and
made with red plastic lines and that was what I really wanted
to make. The plastic thread was too difficult to find so I
had to use black thread instead.
On a flea market I found a piece of galon - pvc-coated fabric
to make tiny cushions from. The chairs are perfect in my dolls
house
