Stjärna is a big Lemon Agout/Lemon Ridgeback female. The Ridgeback is not a standard breed here in Sweden, but it probably will be, sooner or later. I promptly named her Stjärna, because I like her so much! "Stjärna" is Swedish for "Star".
Stjärna is probably born somewhere in Septemer, October or November 2002, I've asked her breeder many times how old Stjärna is, and that's the most precise she has said so far, but who knows... She is not known for keeping records. Stjärna has no pedigree, even though she is bred by one of the biggest cavy breeders in Sweden. Stjärna didn't even have a name when I got her :-)
Stjärna moved in here on the 13th of May 2005. She was very little handled when she arrived, but she is getting more and more tame for every day that goes by.
Stjärna's father is a Golden Agouti, and her father's father was a Dalmation.
Stjärna's mother is a Peruvian bred by Jens Lindgren, she is actually a Champion. She is called "Klara" and she is very tame (I don't know her pedigree name).
Stjärna also have a brother and he is a Ridgeback that looks like a Ridgeback/Aby cross. His colour is Golden Agouti/Golden and his Golden spots are small. I suggested to named him Måne (Swedish for "Moon") since he had no name either.
I was promised two cavies from Stjärna's breeder, but I actually got three!
A short while after I got Stjärna I asked the breeder again for the little satin female she had promised me - that she gave me and I later named Saga. The breeder then told me that she has just recieved an old cavy, Trassel, in desperate need of a new home and I said I'll take her too!
When the new ones arrived Stjärna showed her true colours - she started harrassing Saga. Happily she left Trassel alone, though. She only kept this bad behaviour up for a few days, but it annoyed me a lot. I yelled at her every time she chased Saga from house to house, and if that didn't help I cought Stjärna and held her for at least 15 minuter in my lap.
As if that wasn't enough she started riding on my old cavy Danira, so Danira had problems walking - Stjärna is very heavy - and that's when I decided to get a castrated male. So I got Nemo. He is just as big as Stjärna, but he made peace in the cage!
I was afraid Stjärna would get less tame from this, but on the contrary she has gotten even more tame! I think Stjärna is very pretty!
But then I've always loved her colour, I've owned several cavies in this particular colour (Lemon Agouti) just because I liked the colour so much... It was after I bought Drutten several years ago that I started liking this colour so much :-)
Stjärna is also a big cavy, she weighed 1350 grams when she arrived in May, and two months later she weighed 1525 grams.
Stjärna is now very tame :-) She do not appreciate being caught, but she really loves sitting on your lap and being gently stroked...
