My cavy Sammet is a
Grey Curly, which is the same as a short haired
lunkarya.
She goes under the name of Sammet (but I actually called her Ugly the first year I had her). Sammet was probably born in September 1999. I got her on the 29th or 30th of January 2000, and she was a screamer... She screamed every time I picked her up. But when I had her in my lap, she definitely wasn't afraid. She never stopped screamin every time I picked her up, even though she got really tame after a while.
She was meant to be breed from, but she never got pregnant so she was retired. She had many sisters and half-sisters that lived with her breeder that has had lots of babies, so that was no loss except that she was a bit prettier than her siblings...
Actually Sammet wasn't a pretty pig, but she had a sweet face and also a sweet disposition. She really liked to sit in my lap, even though she complained when I caught her...
On the 25th of September 2000 she went back to her breeder to met a nice male cavy. The strange thing is that on that same day I got her pedigree - at last - and it said that she was born on the 26th of September 2000 - and that I got her on the 17th of January 2000... Very funny! That is just not possible! I have a feeling her pedigree is fake since all the dates are wrong and it took a year until I got a pedigree, and that was just because her breeder wanted to have babies from her. Well, a cavy is the best pet you can have, pedigree, or no pedigree! It was after I got that pedigree I started to call her Sammet, before that she was called Ugly... It said that her name was Velvet Halo in her pedigree and Sammet is Swedish for Velvet.
In some of the photos she looks like she had black eyes and in some photos she looks like she had pink eyes. Actually she had reddish dark eyes, like all cavies with two grey genes.
