Milky Way's haida was a Zobel Agouti & White. Haida was born on the 20th of September 1988, and when I got her she was already a few years old. Haida was a cavy in desperate need of a new home, she was so thin that I thought she would not make it. She had not been fed and taken care of properly. Still I had to convince her owner that she needed a new home. Haida's breeder was very worried and helped me to get Haida out of there. But Haida did make it, and grew into a very big cavy.
I can still not understand how you can have animals, say that you love them, refuse to give them up and then just not give them any food...
I'm just happy I succeeded in getting Haida, but in the end only had to promise that I would keep her for the rest of her life and then I got her. Of course I wanted to keep her, I knew immidiately that I would, she was a very nice and big cavy. In the photos she is 5 years and 10 months old and her friend Drutten is 6 1/2 years old.
Haida lived with the girls in a very big homemade cage. She was the big boss of the cage, until she at the age of 5 got a tumour and had to have an operation. After that Flugan was the big boss of the cage.
I did learn a lot from Haida's operation. When she got home in the evening after the operation she could not keep her body temperature up, so I had her in my bed all night, to make sure she did not get cold. Next day she started to keep her body temperature up in the normal range, and later that day I could let back into her cage.
