Milky Way's Gitza was a Silver Agouti & White Lunkarya. A Lunkarya is a longhaired guinea pig whith rough and wavy hair. Gitza was born on the 24th of May 1997, and died 17th of June 2001.
Gitza had a twin sister called Gashay. Gashay is not with us anymore either. On this photo Gitza is to the left and Gashay to the right, and they are still just babies.
The Lunkarya breed is not yet in standards, so Gitza and Gashay were shown at cavy shows in order to make this intriguing breed a standardized breed.
Gitza and Gashay was very much alike, but Gitza
have more white in her face than Gashay had. I think
both were really pretty! Here they are again, with
Gitza to the left and Gashay to the right again!
Gitza was given to me by her breeder on the
22nd of August 1998, along with her daughter
Dana. By then Gashay was
already dead. The breeder had promised me Gitza & Gashay,
but when Gashay died (stomack problems) I got
Dana instead of Gashay. Dana have a brother called
Daiku, also a Lunkarya. Dana is still a part of my cavy herd.
To the left are Gitza's babies from her second litter, less than a day old! To the right is Aristoteles Aoui, just before I gave him away.
These two little guys were born on the 28th of
December 1998. The white one turned out to be a
pink eyed white Lunkarya male, I named him
Aristoteles Aoui. His golden brother turned out to be a
golden Curly, and I named him Aristoteles Allso.
A Lunkarya is a
longhaired guinea pig with rough and wavy hair. The
Curly is a shorthaired Lunkarya. Their father
(Milky Way's Tambourine) is a Curly with one long
haired parent. I never any of these babies, since I
wanted a herd of all females, instead I gave them
to the breder, who kept the best babies for breeding.
Here you can see Gitza after having the babies. Gitza was very nice and friendly towards all her piggy friends, and she was also tame and liked to be held and petted and fed vegetables.

After having two litters with 4 babies
(Dana & Daiku plus Aoui & Allso) Gitza retired from
breeding. I kept Dana, the only female, as a part
of my cavy herd. The breeder kept Daiku, that was born before I
got Gitza, and I gave her Aoui and Allso. She has used both
Daiku and Aoui in her Lunkarya breeding. Allso was sold as a pet.
Gitza died on the 17th of June 2001. She is still missed.
