Fox is a Golden, Golden Agouti & White Lunkarya. She sort of have the markings of a dutch cavy, but with agouti spots on her cheeks! (I never liked dutch cavies!)
In the photo to the right you can see Fox as a young baby, before her fur started growing so long I had to give her a hair-do. Fox was alone in her litter, maybe because her mother Dana was so extremely young when she had her. Fox is in fact the product by an accident, Dana's brother Daiku managed to impregnate her when they were both only 4 weeks old...
A Lunkarya is a
longhaired guinea pig whith rough and wavy hair. Fox
was born on the 17th of October 1998.
Fox went to a piggy show and won a rosette in the beginning of January 1999.
In the summer of 1999 Fox had a visit from a Lunkarya male called Aristoteles Aoui, a white bundle of fur that just loves to sit on top of the cavy houses and look out. In fact they soon were expecting little guinea pigs...
In the photo to the left Fox just had had a hair-do,
so all her long hair is cut short.
Here is Fox again, on the sofa, waiting for me to stop
taking photos of her. She is used to having her photo taken,
so she really don't care about the flash. She just want me to
let her out on the floor again, so she can sit on top of
the piggy houses!
Here is Fox after she had her babies. She lost
a lot of hair, but she was very happy wih the world...
Fox has only had one litter, and the babies were born on
August 30, in 1999. The babies are called Binky & BJ.
Binky is a Golden & White (very little white) Lunkarya,
and BJ is a Peruvian.
See photos of Binky & BJ on
Binky's own page.
Here I sure think I overdid the brushing of her fur - she lost almost all her curls! But she looked her normal self in just a few minutes afterwards, the Lunkaryas has such a rough fur that it really takes a lot to get rid of their curls. Fox actually loks a whole lot like a peruvian in this photo, I think.
Fox was retired from breeding after just one litter
with 2 babies (Binky & B.J.). I kept Binky and B.J. was
sold as a pet. Fox is still a part of my cavy herd.
Here is my little Fox 5 years old and as happy as ever.
