Bubblan was a Black & White very old cavy I agreed to piggy-sit for, and then her owner did not want her back. She lived to be just over 8 years old. She came here on the 5th of December 1996, and was just supposed to stay for 6 weeks. But her owner didn't want her back so she stayed until she died on the 6th of May 1997.
Bubblan was born in the spring of 1989. I actually by accident got in contact with other people who had been piggy-sitting for Bubblan during many years, and thus I learned that she really must have been as old as I had been told. If all the peole that knew her and knew of her was right she was born some time in early April 1989.
I was a little bit worried when she came, since she had been living alone for a long time then. She was so old that she would not have had it easy to avoid my younger cavies, if she needed. It turned out that she fit right into the herd, she had no problems with any of my cavies. She usually stayed all the time outside the cages, she was not able to walk very fast, and she could not run, but they left her alone. They simply walked around her if she was in someone's way.
Bubblan was a very small cavy, she used to weigh around 750 grams. You can't see in these photos how small she really was, but she was about half as long as E.T. was. Here she is licking E.T.s ear in one of the photos, a behaviour I have seen many times, cavies with lower rank in the herd often lick the ears of cavies with hingher rank in the herd.

Bubblan died on the 6th of May 1997.
