Here is Fox' little daughter Aristoteles Binky - only 21 days old - , a Golden Lunkarya with a little white on some of her front toes. Binky moved as a baby to a breeder who wanted to show her and breed from her, and when Binky had met a suitable lunkarya male she came back and had her babies here and spend the rest of her life here... Binky was born on the 30th of August 1999.
Binky's father is Aristoteles Aoui, a PE White Lunkarya. Photo of Aoui here.
A Lunkarya is a longhaired guinea pig whith rough and wavy hair.
This photo shows Binky's little peruvian brother, BJ, just three weeks old.
First she met Ruckelbo's Gizmo, a Black & White Lunkarya, and had two pretty little lunkarya babies by him, Danilo & Danira, a male and a female. Danilo & Danira was born on the 10th of July 2000.
Then Binky met a Golden & White Lunkarya
called Cattla's Careless Whisper. On the 18th of January
2001 Binky had 3 little babies. There was Farro
the Cream & White Lunkarya male that weighed 90 grams at birth,
and Farros two Golden & White Peruvian sisters called
Aristoteles Fiffi & Aristoteles Fideli. The bigger sister
weighed 80 grams at birth, and the smaller one 70 grams.
Here is Aristoteles Farro, a Cream & White Lunkarya
(in the middle of the trio on the photo)
with Fiffi & Fideli, Golden & White Peruvians.
Here you can see how small he was when I took this photo, he was
only 13 days old, and not much bigger than the paw of a
German Shepherd Dog!
Farro is such a lovely pig that I had plans to take him back after he have been doing his duty and making a bunch of little Lunkarya babies... Farro has been walking around on the floor more than any of my babies, and I really enjoy hearing the sound of piggy paws on the floor!
Now it seems Farro is making very high quality Lunkarya babies so
it will be very long until I might get him back!
Here is Binky in a photo taken in January 2001 to the left
and in a photo taken in June 2001 to the right - just after
I cut off most of her fur...
Binky is a very sweet pig and also very pretty, I think.
Here is a photo of Binky & Kurtan
Kurtan is an Alpaca, and here you can see the main differences between Lunkaryas and Alpacas. Lunkaryas have their hair standing on end all the time, with big curls and no hair-do at all. The Lunkarya fur is rough and the Alpaca fur is fine and soft. Alpacas has smaller curls and a nice hair-do (I don't comb Kurtan's fur...) also Alpacas, Merinos and Texels have this line along the spine where the hair is parted. This is the surest sign of which is which when they are little babies!
Binky has had 2 litters with 5 babies (Danilo & Danira, and then Farro, Fiffi & Fideli), and is now retired from breeding. I kept Danira and the person who owned the males that became fathers to Binky's litters got Farro, Fiffi, Fideli and Danilo. Fiffi and Fideli she sold as pets. She used Danilo and Farro in her breeding. Binky is still a part of my cavy herd.
Here is Binky at the age of 4 years and 4 months. She has lost a lot of her fur, which is typical of Lunkaryas, but it may actually completely grow back! And we have no clue as to why many Lunkaryas lose their fur at times. You can't see it is this photo but she has lost most of her eye sight too, her eyes are in fact grey, I guess it is cataract. She is probably almost blind, but she has problem whatsoever to find all the food she wants...
