Textruta: What is IB really like?
What they tell you: Years ago, it might have been considered to be a "gifted programme", but today  IB is for normal kids with ambition and motivation.
In Reality: Some kids are really smart, and some of them are in IB. It can be a shock when you suddenly realise that you're not the smartest kid in class anymore.  However, there is very little competition among the students, and this creates a positive atmosphere in class. We have more fun in IB!

Textruta: Is it true that some IB subjects are easier  than others and will earn you better grades?
What they tell you: When choosing your IB subjects, the most important thing is to take subjects that you like and would like to study later on. If you think that your subjects are boring, in the end it won't matter how easy they are.
In Reality: It depends on your school. If you have a bad teacher and there are little or no resources for that specific subject, it will be very hard for you as a student because you will have to study more on your own.
It is not hard to see that there is a large difference between History and Chemistry for instance. Here it depends on your interests. If you choose a subject that you have little interest in and no understanding for, it will show in the end.

Textruta:  How much time will I have to spend on my studies?
What they tell you: It has been said that IB students usually spend twice as much time on their studies than National programme students. However, there is no evidence that this is true. If you want good grades you have to study a lot, no matter what programme you're in.
In reality: This is very individual. I know people who spend 3-4 hours a day studying and others who spend less time.
