What is CAS?
IB students must complete CAS to receive the Diploma. CAS is supposed to act as a counterbalance to the academic self-absorption students might feel within a demanding school curriculum. CAS, together with the IB subjects, is supposed to educate the whole person and not just focus on academic subjects. Students should through their own experiences develop as human beings. By participating in CAS students are encouraged to share their energy and special talents while developing awareness, concern and the ability to work cooperatively with others.
Students are expected with the assistance of the CAS Coordinator to plan and participate in a CAS programme that will match their own interests, abilities and schedules.
Different CAS projects:
Creativity: NaNoWriMo , art classes (pottery, photography), music classes
Action:
Service:
"Good CAS" - If you can combine two or more parts of CAS (e.g. Creativity+Service or Service+Action) in a project it is better than to have just one.
