Toyota Aygo
I spent a week with a rented 2007 Toyota Aygo.
The car had only been on the road a couple of days when I picked it up.
So what did I think?
Well as an economical little car to get around town or
between villages it is very nice.
The little 3 cylinder engine of just under 1 litre is fine for this kind of
driving, and does sound quite nice when reved hard.
But on "long distance" driving (130km with 4 people) it was lacking, it was a
long time since I had to down shift to third and floor it to get a car up a hill!
Also, it was sensitive to side winds.
My major dislike was that there was no glove box or
other storage area in the cabin with a lid.
So you could not keep anything in the car without it being seen unless you put
it in the boot.
Equipment was limited, but ok, and the stereo has a 3.5mm Aux in on the dash.
The rear door windows do not roll down, just pop open at the back like on the
old Mini or the rear of a Voyager.
Quality feel was ok, but I had to tighten the gearknob as it was loose and properly assemble the floor mats onto their anchors.
All in all a nice little car if used for what it is designed for - but how about a glovebox, Toyota?
