The Law

We have laws. Don´t break them. Don´t speed.

Speed traps in Sweden

The Swedish speeding fines

Other fines can be found on the Swedish Police site.

Speed cameras.
Fixed cameras an be legally detected by GPS positioning systems.
See this links page for suppliers and my review on one product.
However, a number of movable cameras are being put into service.

Laser "guns".
Quite common, even on Motorways.
It is against the law even to own a laser detector.
Therefore, I would not recommend anyone to buy them for example from
Laservarnare.com

Civilian cars with video equipment.
Usually larger european cars with 100% rear tints and a few extra antennas.
The cars are equiped with a system called "Polispilot".
However, the courts do accept statements from police officers following you in any police car.

Helicopter Surviellance.
Is not very common, but happens.

Police Radio

For the moment it is possible and legal to listen to Swedish Police radio.
However, a new system ("Rakel") is being introduced which cannot be listened to.

Either you need a scanner (for example from Alfakom), or in some cases you can find streams on the internet:
Stream Live Stockholm Police Radio
Polisradio.net
Staden.se.tp
