I mainly play Playstation 2
Short review of my favourite games:
GranTurismo 3 (GT3).
The best racing game when it came out.
Lots of licensed cars.
Achieving different passed racing licenses will allow you to participate in
different races, rally, long distance, DTM etc.
You start by buying a car for a small ammount of money you are given and then
you compete to earn more money to tune and buy new cars.
Grand Theft
Auto 3 (GTA3).
3 dimensional car oriented gangster game set in Liberty City (where the only
dirty word is hope).
There is a reason for the 18 year age limit! The game was banned in Australia.
Steal cars, carry out missions for criminal gangs, splatter the police etc.
You can choose which radio station you want to listen to in the car. Do not miss
the twisted radio-ads, and look up their websites!
For example:
petsovernight.com
sleepofflard.com
Twisted Metal Black
A very different car game where you chase other cars in a number of enviroments
and the goal is to destroy them with different types of weapons.
Like Quake on wheels.
Fun for a while but gets boring.
F1 2001 (EA
Sports)
One of many F1 games.
Fully licensed by FIA.
Once you learn the tracks, watching F1 on televsion is more fun!
One game I have played a lot on X-BOX is
Project Gotham Racing 2
It is a fun game, play it on easy level and it is fun arcade type racing.
Many different types of challanges and licensed cars.
No need to fiddle about with millions of settings to the car.
Just boot up and race.
The races are set in real locations like Stockholm.
It is a lot of fun to recognise the cities you have visited and race in them!
For Playstation 1 (PS one & orginal Playstation) there are also a number of good games and these can also be played on PS2 hardware:
Driver & Driver 2
You are the undercover cop Tanner who has to carry out a number of
missions.
The game brings back memories of 70s car-chase films like Bullit.
Cheat
codes for Driver
GranTurismo & GranTurismo 2
Racing games only surpassed by GT3.
Same concept as GT3 which is described above.
Toca & Toca2
Touring car games with support classes like Fiesta and Formula Ford.
Graphics not the best even by PS1 standards.
Cars will become damgaded when you crash them and you can be warned for "dangerous
driving" which you canīt be in for example the GT series.
Ridge Racer Type 4
Archade type game.
Not one of my favorites.
Pale compared to the Gran Turismo games.
