RECEIVER R1155
ACCESSORIES

Morse Key

Key This so called "bathtub" morse key was used in the Lancaster bomber aircraft. Of course it was wired to the transmitter T1154, but it was placed on the radio operators table in front of the receiver R1155. I have aquired a key to copy the environment in front of the operator to some extent.

The key is ca 12 cm long and rather hard to press, probably to
be correctly handled with gloves in turbulent air. It was fixed to the table and the wires were connected by means of two knobs on the top of the key.

Head phones

Headphones

This type of phones was used during the war in ground stations and are also said to have been used abord Sunderland flying boats. In the bombers the crew used leather helmets with built in phones. The phones are connected with a heavy 9 mm standard plug and they also have a connector for a microphone. They are marked with AM for Air Ministry and a crown.

Spare valves

The valves used in the R1155 are VR99, VR99A, VR100, VR101, VR102 and "the magic eye" VI103. They have glass bulbs and octal bases, and most of them have a top connector. I have aquired a complete set of spare valves, they are NOS (new old stock), which means they are unused and they are in the original boxes. I bought them from the UK and Canada via eBay.
